Chinese (Oriental) Medicine

Duties and Responsibilities:

Oriental Medicine practitioners give treatments that help identify a pattern of energetic imbalance within a patient and redress that disharmony through a variety of therapies (which may include acupuncture, acupressure, and other methods).

Salary:

The average yearly salary for a practitioner in Oriental Medicine is $52,000.

Education:

For this career, 5-8 years of education is required. In general, a bachelor's or associate's degree is required, but the equivalent (60 semesters from an accredited college/university) is eligible as well.

Reflection:

I don't know what it is about Chinese anything that automatically repels my interest. Oriental medicine sounds interesting, but it doesn't really get my attention and it would seem a little pretentious of me (a person grown and raised surrounded by western culture) to pretend to understand and apply the use of a foreign medical practice.
