"In any moment of decision, the best thing you can do is the right thing."

Reflection:
But what is the right thing? Is it that easy to tell what to do when you're torn between two choices? I suppose, the right thing is always the best thing to do, but in a moment of anxiety, will you know what is actually good? I wonder about this, because the easy thing, and the right thing, are not usually one and the same.

Life Planning Progess

Up until now, I've written nearly 300 goals. I recently accomplished a goal I wrote down, "Accomplish 50 of these goals" so I can say with complete pride that today I have been able to accomplish 55 of the 300 goals I have written so far.

I am a bit disappointed, recently, because something I really wanted and emphasized on several of my pages was to go to a concert, at the end of the day, I suppose wishing and working towards a goal doesn't always work out.

Writing down lists is something that has helped me remember all of the accomplishments I have made thus far. I know that I still have many many empty pages in my book, but I'm hoping that for sure one day every single goal I get the chance to write down has a "Victory" scrawled in next to it.

I've progressed fairly well, I suppose, but I also know that the only real time I get to look at my notebook is when I'm here, in class. I really need to work on keeping my word of reading every single day. Even when it gets tiresome (because it does) to read the same thing repeatedly.

Well that's all...maybe in a few months my entire notebook will be filled.

Reflection:
I really think that being a medical surveillance technician... it's alright when there's no one around to keep an eye on the patient, but for the most part, I think they aren't really all that necessary. All a medical surveillance technician does is make sure patients are doing all right, but isn't that already the job of the nurse or of the doctor? It just occurs to me that all these technicians supply are extra help than what is already needed.

Dr. Bob in Albany, New York

In possibly one of the worst neighborhoods there is, is a doctor commonly known as Mr.Bob that has taken up residence in a local hospital, and spends every last cent of his salary helping others. To be more exact, he really has no salary.

He had a decent job, up until he realized that he wasn't really making the world any better. So he gave up his career, and went to medical school at age 36. He thought he could help even those that don't have the money nor the insurance to pay for counseling, or to receive medical attention. Sometimes he even gives money to his patients to cover their expenses for other things not related to medicine. Without a doubt, he is a truly selfless man.

I think that what he has done for those around him is truly something that is so incredibly kind, and I don't think that even I have the capacity he has to carry so much warmth within me, to live in a bad neighborhood. If I was him, I would want to live in a nice place, where I have a clean roof over my head, and an upcoming retirement home to relax in. I wouldn't want to put even my own health in danger by giving my salary away to people I hardly know. Usually, medical careers would pay a lot of money, and I would want to be receiving my share.

There is much to be learned about this man, Dr. Bob, and that is, to put aside your interests for the good of those around you. Don't be a selfish person, because at the end of the day, is the world any different when you die, than when you were born? Will you be remembered for being a good person? Will you have made any change in the world?

"Make each day your masterpiece. You have to apply yourself each day to become a little better, and over a period of time you become a lot better"
-John Wooden

Reflection:
Treat every day with equal enthusiasm for what is right. There is not one day you can simply get up and say, "Today, I won't try." No. It is extremely important to always give it your best, as long as you keep trying with unrivaled fortitude, nothing, nothing can stand in your way. Whether you are striving to lose weight, or to be a better person, put your thoughts into action, and over time, that goal will come to you thanks to your strength of will.

Army Nurse Corps

Reflection:
I've often considered that it might be interesting to serve in the army as a medic, but at the same time, I often view being in the army as something you get roped into, and you can't get out until you've followed through. It kind of scares me to think of being stuck somewhere and unable to get out, regardless of how being a medical-surgical nurse works, I'm not sure I want to associate myself with such an environment.

"It's a great moment when someone has character to step up and do the right thing at the right time."

Reflection:
I can think of many times I and the chance to step up and do something nice for someone else. I usually don't recall taking those chances, out of fear or embarrassment. I think more than character, it also requires courage to step up and do something good.
